Alpha Transparency

1 Load in an image, in this case but_play.bmp from the media.zip folder (media/buttons/but_play.bmp)

2 Layer->Transparency->Add Alpha Channel

3 Click the magic wand icon, 4th from left

4 Click on black area of the picture, then ctrl-k (repeat this for all balck areas of the image)

5 File->SaveAs (type .tga)

Scan line filter

Scan line raster effect suitable for making ordinary screenshots of game into cool looking splash and menu screen background images.

Filters->distorts->video

Drop Shadow

Creates a shadow around an image, suitable for game manual or documentation.

Script-Fu->Shadow->Drop-Shadow
